With the cost of living crisis, planning a wedding and keeping in budget is tough! Here are some of the ways that I think you could save a little on your day!

STATIONARY

Find a stationer you like and stick with them. Get them to agree to do all your stationary needs from save the dates to menus and then the tank you cards! When buying a large bundle, most suppliers will give a discount.

On this note, rather than putting all your information on your formal invitation, direct your guests to a wedding website where they can RSVP, select their food and find out about local hotels.

We used withjoy.com and it was great.

GUESTS

The more guests, the more spend! Extra invitations, chair decor, food and drinks. You don't have to invite your third cousin's best mates boss. So make your wedding intimate with people you want to see on your special day rather than trying to fill a room. And it will help your bank balance.

BRIDESMAIDS

Now, this isn't for everyone but a great way to save a bit of cash is on the bridesmaids. Getting all your best girls to agree on a single dress, or even just a colour, can be a task all on its own. And, tradition dictates that if you are picking the dresses, you should pick up the bill! So why not tell your bridesmaids your colour scheme and overall theme and let them wear their own. This way, you are not spending £££ on dresses that none of them will wear again and they can be in control of their own budget and feel comfortable and happy on your day!

HIRE NOT DIY

I think many may disagree on this one, but hear me out. When you DIY, you tend to buy lots of little things that you think could be incorporated into your big day. Sometimes, these things are found when you are out and about and therefore the cost doesn't always reach the wedding spreadsheet. And then, when it comes to putting all of these together, you realise you've bought a lot of things that you won't end up using. If you employ a decor company, they take on all the stress, and the cost is normally quite reasonable (if you do your research) and will end up being about the same cost of DIY without the need to pack it all away at the end of the night.

PRE-LOVED

So I really rate this. I went Pre-Loved with my wedding dress and literally saved THOUSANDS! I don't really think there's much more to say on this one other than, if you haven't sourced a Pre-Loved boutique, get looking!

FAVOURS

Finally, I would suggest that cutting out favours is the easiest way to save some cash. They are pointless and unnecessary. Most guests leave them behind and all that thought you put into them ends up being extra clutter on the table. Even if you only end up spending £2.00 per guest, multiply that by 80 guests and that's £160 saved!
